It has the oldest plastic parts engineering department in the country, founded 1954, and only ABET accredited Plastics Engineering program in US (offers BS, MS, PhD).
Education is really hands-on, as they have many nice labs and lots of corporate sponsorships. In regards to student's future jobs, it depends what type of education your are giving them. Jobs running presses are getting more rare in the states, but engineering positions are plentiful. Students can work directly in the plastics industry (machines, polymers), or branch out into industries that use plastics like medical device or consumer electronics. If plastics are used, expertise is needed.
One of your faculty, or an alumni must work or have worked for a local plastic parts firm. Leverage those relationships. If not hit the Chamber, Mayor's Business Council, or local Economic Development group meetings. They almost always are looking for presenters and the forum makes a great networking opportunity. You need find a champion outside of the academic institution to truly make this happen.
We have recently restructured our manufacturing program that I run at Cal State Chico (Plastics/Polymer courses are taught under this) and have focused on industrial/academic partnerships. This has brought in instructors, grant money, industry money, and students, along with making a significant impact on the regional job creation front.
