 Nitrogen Springs

SHENGJU was the first company to produce top quality self-contained nitrogen gas springs at a competitive price and with superior customer service in Shanghai. Founded in 2000, SHENGJU is now the highest volume producer of gas springs for press tools.

SHENGJU manufactures a variety of nitrogen gas springs in force models from 10 lb. to 22 tons of force on contact. Sizes range from 1/2 " to 6" in diameter. SHENGJU nitrogen gas springs may be operated as self-contained or linked. When operated as a linked system, adjustment, monitoring, draining and refilling can be performed from outside the die. SHENGJU  offers a variety of accessories including hose, fittings and control panels that are used to connect gas springs together as a linked system.  Through extensive testing and field experience,SHENGJU has proven to manufacture reliable, low maintenance nitrogen gas springs. SHENGJU's exclusive Two Year/One Million Stroke Gold Guarantee.

Application of Nitrogen Springs

Many gas springs fail to provide their maximum life potential because of tool design, plant environment and press and tool maintenance issues. The following application guidelines apply to both vertical and horizontal tool positions (although the forces generated are different for each) and can be used to enhance the general performance of this component.

Do not preload a gas spring or nitrogen system--nitrogen springs provide on-contact tonnage, so very few applications require a preload. This is for both safety and longevity issues. It is strongly recommended that any nitrogen spring system that is "by design" preloaded be clearly marked with appropriate warnings and hosed to a control panel. When preloaded, the safe operation, life and increased repair of the spring are issues of great concern.
Mount gas spring perpendicular to the pad--In either a vertical or horizontal position, perpendicular alignment is critical. Misalignment can result in the piston rod rotating during the stroke, seriously reducing seal life.
Never trap or attach a piston rod end--Do not allow the component's piston rod to be controlled by the contact surface because of confinement or attachment--to do so defeats the piston rod's self-alignment feature.
Always bolt springs into place --Do not confuse nitrogen springs with mechanical (wire) springs. Improperly mounted, a die cylinder may become preloaded, cause loose pad alignment or become jammed in the pocket, seriously reducing seal life and affecting the safe operation of the cylinder and tool.
Moreover, it is important to avoid side thrust, make sure the contact surface is smooth, flat and hard, and use less than 90 percent of piston rod stroke and cylinder tonnage. Finally, if possible place the devices in clean, dry areas and use drain slots to evacuate die lubricants.
