Together with flywheel and friction disc, the clutch pressure plate forms a friction system and is mounted to the flywheel by bolts in the housing. It is a cast iron plate that provides a pivot fulcrum for the diaphragm spring, a friction surface for the disc and a mounting surface for the drive straps. The pressure plate contains a clutch plate, springs, cover and release fingers. A clutch cover is a steel stamping or casting that houses the clutch components and attaches to the flywheel.
